Sometimes we are so worried in this country about being politically correct, it seems we have to defy all common sense to explain things to our children. After the mass killing this week at Fort Hood, my child's 7th grade social studies teacher had the killer all figured out. She told the kids that war was an ugly thing. This poor, poor man had been through hell in the war in Iraq, and was probably just so disturbed, just so scarred by what he saw at war that he couldn't bear to go back there again to face it. What's more, he was trying to "save" some of his fellow soldiers who were going to be going there for the first time--by killing them. HUH? I was furious as I explained to her that the teacher needed to get her facts straight before she stood up to teach. First of all, the man had NEVER been to war. He had been educated, paid for by our tax dollars, and taught all about how to counsel men coming home from war. He was being paid well for his service, and now it was his turn to do what he signed up to do--go to war. Secondly, it wasn't like he would be fighting on the front lines. He would be somewhere in a nice office, doing his psychology thing, and "counseling" his fellow soldiers, supposedly helping them through the war, and their problems. In reality--this man was a pathetic coward. He hated our country, and his fellow soldiers. He didn't agree with the war, or it's mission, or his own leadership. Why, I ask then, won't anyone call this attack what it is? A TERRORIST attack? This is the very definition of a terrorist attack. This man is the very definition of a terrorist--a wolf in sheep's clothing. Wearing the uniform of a military that he loathed. Once again--political correctness gets in the way of calling it like it is.
I have put in a call to the teacher--to make sure she has her facts straight, and if she is going to talk about current events--she needs to know what she's talking about, and cover both sides of the story. What if she has a student who is a son or daughter of a soldier? Don't we need to worry about their feelings? I mean as long as we are worried about the terrorist's feelings, don't we need to worry about the soldier as well--who is putting his life on the line as we speak, so you can stand up there and teach my children? Harsh? Maybe. But I'm just sick of the apologists. No doubt there will be plenty of them in the time it takes to nurse this sicko back to health and then examine his convoluted brain to see what would possibly "make him" do something like this. It was probably the meanies, and the bullies, who made fun of him for his beliefs. Wa Wa Wa--cry me a river. You know what--I don't care! Hook him up to the electric chair--or better yet, shoot him dead as he lies helpless and unarmed in his hospital bed. That's all this scumbag deserves. A good read:
